Lancashire and Cumbria Christmas Markets

Lancashire and Cumbria Christmas Markets We’re Attending 2017

This year, we have been extremely busy working with new customers, big and small, up and down the country. We love Christmas here at William Firth Woodcraft, and have decided to attend several Lancashire and Cumbria Christmas Markets over the festive period.

Read on to find out where we will be this year!

Lancashire and Cumbria Christmas Markets 2017

Scorton Food & GIft Fair – Sunday 5th November

As we are based in the village of Scorton, Lancashire, the Food and Gift Fair was top of our list of Markets to attend this year.

The Fair is being held at Scorton Village Hall from 10.30am – 4pm and is sure to be a great day out both for locals and people travelling to the area. And perhaps best of all, it is completely free to attend! With over 20 stallholders selling local produce and handmade gifts, we’re looking forward to saying hello to all our neighbours and meeting new faces!

Ulverston Dickensian Festival – saturday 24th and sunday 25th november

The Ulverston Dickensian Festival is one of the biggest and most popular Dickensian Festivals in the country, and this year celebrates its seventeenth year.

The Dickensian Festival is always an action-packed weekend, boasting Ulverston’s great specialistic shops, pubs, cafes, cobbled streets and festive atmosphere! There will be an array of free entertainment, free events for children, costume competitions, balloon modelling, horse drawn carriages, music, dancing, and absolutely everything is free. Not to mention the traditional, vintage Fairground!

We will be in the Christmas Market, where we and plenty of other makers and producers will be ready to welcome you to browse. Do come and say hello if you’re attending!

Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas fair weekend – Friday 1st, Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December

We were fortunate enough to attend the Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair Weekend in 2016 within the Lunesdale Hall Indoor Christmas Shopping Market, and had one of the most festive days over the Christmas period. This year, we have opted for a wooden outdoors Chalet, of which there are 22 in total next to the Monument in Market Square.

As well as the Chalet Village in the Square, there will be an array of local food and drink producers, a Christmas craft area for children, Santa’s Grotto, not to mention the largest tree in the town! On Saturday at 2pm, the ‘switching on’ of the lights will take place as part of the traditional Festive Parade. We really do love this weekend of festivities and can’t wait to attend this year!

Hawkshead Christmas Fair – Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd December

Yes, you’ve read right, we are attending two Christmas Markets over the same weekend!

In the heart of the Lake District, Hawkshead Christmas Fair will once again boast over 50 indoor and outdoor stalls (look out for us indoors!), street entertainers, Christmas lights, a Winter Beer Festival in all pubs with live street music all day. As well as this, the lantern parade is back at 4pm on Saturday and carol singing at 4.30pm, and we’ve been told it’s not to be missed!

Garstang Victorian Christmas Festival – Monday 11th and Tuesday 12th December (from 4.30pm)

The Garstang Victorian Christmas Festival is somewhat of a festive tradition in Garstang village. Each year, it continues to go from strength to strength and this year looks to be another festive treat.

This year hosts bands, singers, stilt walkers, Punch and Judy, and all kinds of street entertainment as well as shops and stalls alike, selling in time for Christmas, into the evening. Santa’s Grotto is also back and can be found on the High Street. Enjoy local food from Hog Roast and German Sausages, to candy floss and doughnuts.

Personalised Breadboards created by William Firth Woodcraft

William Firth Woodcraft Supplies Personalised Breadboards to Bells of Lazonby

Personalised Breadboards created by William Firth WoodcraftWe are so pleased and excited to announce that we have recently worked with Bells of Lazonby to create personalised Breadboards, in advance of their brand new social media giveaway campaign launching in National Baking Week 2017.

#Useyourloaf

The campaign will see Booths customers using Bells of Lazonby’s Artisan Sourdough Bread range at home to create their own recipes and showcase these on social media, using the hash tag #useyourloaf.  Each post will be entered into a weekly draw and a winner will be announced every week for the rest of 2017, winning a personalised Breadboard.

Bells were keen to use a local business to supply the prizes and so asked us to be involved. Each personalised Breadboard has been made completely by hand out of European Oak, and etched with the Bells logo and ‘Bells of Lazonby – Artisan Bread Craft Bakers – Est. 1946’

Bells of Lazonby’s Marketing Manager, Emily Sudell, said; “Will was a pleasure to work with and was very quick to respond to the brief. He worked within our exact requirements and met our deadlines. It was great to be able to use a local producer to coincide with our local #useyourloaf competition, where we have teamed up with regional supermarket, Booths to promote our new artisan sourdough bread range. We’re sure these beautiful prizes will make the social media campaign a success and drive people to engage!”

The campaign being led by Bells of Lazonby and Booths launches Monday 16th October 2017 across social media until the end of 2017.

William Firth Woodcraft is part of FIKA Exhibition at Arteria Lancaster

We are very excited to announce that we are part of the brand new exhibition, ‘FIKA’, in Arteria, which is being held from 12th October 2017 to 6th January 2018.

According to the Collins Dictionary, the definition of ‘Fika’ (pronounced Fee-Ka) reads as ‘a concept in Swedish (and Finnish) culture with the basic meaning, “to have coffee”, often accompanied with pastries or sandwiches.’

To read into this further, it is all about taking time out of your day to relax and enjoy quality time either alone or with family and friends.

We are so excited that Arteria have decided to use this as the theme for their last exhibition of 2017, and we can’t wait to showcase our products that fit into it as well as see what the other participants produce.

Honey DipperThe usual suspects will feature in the show from us, such as our Wonky Serving Boards and Cake Knives, but we have also included our brand new Cake Stands this year which make the perfect Christmas gift. We’ve also featured our Honey Dippers, which are also a great, unusual gift for your loved ones.

All of our products are 100% handmade from our workshop in Scorton, just south of Lancaster. This year we have worked with local and national stockists and Breweries, but Arteria was the first shop and Exhibition we featured in, so we really are so pleased to be asked to go back and we’ll never say ‘no’ to them in the years to come! (Providing they ask us back again!)

We can’t wait to see all the Makers and Producers take part this year; Arteria always pick such great Craftspeople that we are honoured to sit our products next to.

If you have any questions about us featuring in the exhibition or would like to get in touch, don’t hesitate to contact us today.
