The Whitworth Art Gallery is part of the University of Manchester, and is based in Whitworth Park.
The Whitworth was first established in 1889, as the first English gallery in the Park; and in 2015 the Gallery received funding, allowing it to double in size and hold many more pieces. The Gallery is now part of the University of Manchester, and is a place of research and academic collaboration. Part of the Gallery is a beautiful gift shop, and that’s where William Firth Woodcraft comes in!
Back in January 2018, we met the team from The Whitworth at an event, and were so pleased when they gave us great feedback regarding our products. Shortly after the event, we received an order of a variety of products that they would like to hold in the Gallery Shop.
As with all of our products and orders, each product is handmade from the finest timber and each piece of wood, particularly for the bowls in this case, is picked for its character and unique qualities. Every product is created out of our workshop in Scorton, in Lancashire, utilising best practices and traditional methods.
We’re so pleased that our work is featured in such a fantastic location, and we can’t wait to visit it in the flesh to see for ourselves! We’re very much looking forward to working with The Whitworth for a long time to come.
