Handmade Personalised Beer Pump Clips

Case Study: Tap Handles & Pump Clips for Thornbridge Brewery

Recently we have completed a bespoke project for Thornbridge Brewery, creating personalised handmade Pump Clips and Tap Handles for a variety of their beers.

Personalised Handmade Pump ClipsThornbridge Brewery

Thornbridge Brewery started brewing in 2005, out of the grounds of Thornbridge Hall. From being an original 10 barrel brewery, to winning over 350 awards, the Brewery now operates from two sites and the company have many Pubs. Also attending many Beer Festivals throughout the year, Thornbridge asked William Firth Woodcraft to create a variety of bespoke Pump Clips & Tap Handles to assist.

Personalised Handmade Pump Clips & Tap Handles

Personalised Handmade Pump Clips & Tap HandlesWe were tasked to create personalised Pump Clips for several different beers, as well as Tap Handles to go with them. Produced from American Black Walnut, an initial shape was created that was followed for each clip, making each uniform but still completely handmade. The same process occurred for each Tap Handle and then each product was finished with personalisation through a laser etching machine.

Once etched, each product was then finished and checked and then sent out to the Brewery.

Personalised Handmade Pump ClipsWith over 86,000 followers across three social media platforms, and such a huge variety of beers on offer, we were honoured to be asked to work with such a prestigious Brewery, and we hope to work together long into the future.

If you have any questions about our work with Thornbridge Brewery, or you’d like to discuss working together, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We are extremely excited to tell you we have a new stockist, Hive Homeware based in Cardiff.

Hive Homeware – A Shop for People who Want to Buy Less. But Better.

Hive homeware is an online platform with monthly ‘preview’ events across Cardiff, Wales and the rest of the UK. Hive is not only environmentally and socially conscious, but also conscious of the moment – some would call this mindful. Hive understands that a true appreciation of the every day is not a skill that everyone has innately, but it is indeed one that can be learnt. Hive encourage their customers, through the relationships, they build with them and the items that they purchase to celebrate craft, embrace longevity, and redefine their understanding of ‘value’.

To find out where Hive will be previewing next, visit hivehomeware.com/preview.

Our Work

Hive are currently stocking a range of our Kitchen Utensils, which will also be available online soon via their website.

Founder of Hive, Shaun Hocke said, “We discovered William Firth Woodcraft at Top Drawer in London in January – As always with these sorts of trade fairs we weren’t there to buy wooden craft, but hey that’s how it goes. We came across William and Jess tucked away, and it was clear from the start they are passionate about what they do. At Hive we only work with people who we feel share of passion and drive for what they do. We love how every single one of their products are 100% handmade from start to finish and is therefore unique.”

We truly feel that our brands are similar in the way we do business and the way we work together, and we are so excited to be working together, and hope to for a long time to come!

William Firth Woodcraft Attends Top Drawer Spring Summer 2018

Top Drawer Spring Summer 2018

Top Drawer 2018On 14-16th of this month, we were fortunate enough to attend Top Drawer Spring/Summer 2018 at Olympia London.

Top Drawer is a major international trade show, bringing together both leading UK and International brands, as well as giving new designers and makers an opportunity to exhibit within the ‘Spotted’ section of the show, and that is exactly where we were placed.

Top Drawer Spring Summer 2018The Show

The ‘Spotted’ section was on the first floor of Olympia. As we arrived it’s fair to say we were somewhat overwhelmed by the sheer size of the whole operation. There was pretty much every brand you could think of (in the realm of home, gifts, stationery etc) with huge stands that looked incredible. Intimidated, much? We made our way upstairs and started to build. After a couple of hours, we were all set up and ready to go. We laid out our fantastic new brochures, designed by Tom Kidd, and started to mentally prepare for the first day of the show, which was Sunday.

Our Experience

Throughout the course of the show, we realised we had no reason whatsoever to be overwhelmed or feel intimidated. We had some fantastic neighbouring stalls including Wolf & Ink, Disciple Skincare, Perch Upholstery, Moby Maps & Well Spotted to name only a few!

We met some fantastic people from varying sizes of businesses, and from not just the UK but all over the world.  Each day brought new people, from Buyers, to Directors, to Business Owners, to Journalists, and we can honestly say we thoroughly enjoyed chatting to everyone.

We received great feedback on our products and enjoyed talking potential customers (and interested people in general!) through our work and everything we had spent so long preparing.

We have received multiple orders since the show, both from businesses in the UK and Europe, and cannot wait to get going and build relationships with these new companies long into the future. We’ll give you more information about these businesses in due course, as and when we can.

Top Drawer Spring Summer 2018The Future

As you’ve read, we have received multiple orders, so the next few weeks will be seeing these through and sending them out to their recipients. We hope to exhibit at Top Drawer again in the future and are very excited to see what more comes to us off the back of the show.

If you’ve got any questions or would like to find out more, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

The Churchmouse at Barbon

William Firth Woodcraft adds The Churchmouse at Barbon to Growing List of Stockists

As you probably already know if you’re an avid blog reader of ours, we attended many Christmas Markets in 2017, one of which being Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair. Whilst there, we were fortunate enough to meet Jules from The Churchmouse at Barbon, and since then, we are now working together, supplying the shop with our products!

The Churchmouse at BarbonThe Churchmouse at Barbon

The Churchmouse at Barbon is a fantastic store and delicatessen, hugely popular with walkers and cyclists. Situated in the centre of the village of Barbon, just outside Kirkby Lonsdale, the fully licensed venue offers food and drink as well as selling a wide range of cheeses, meats, groceries and now, William Firth Woodcraft products!

Jules said;  “William and I met at a Christmas Market in Kirkby Lonsdale. I was amazed at the quality of the products. I immediately purchased some of William’s stock, which has been really popular in store. They are items of sheer beauty and a treat to use in the kitchen. They make cooking more of a pleasure than it is already!”

We are absolutely thrilled to add such a beautiful venue to our list of stockists, and we are even planning an evening event with Jules and the team for the Spring at the venue itself, so watch this space!

If you have any questions, or if you would like to become a stockist, don’t hesitate to get in touch.

First Year of Trading for William Firth Woodcraft

What a Year!

As we start to wind down for Christmas and think about having a break over the festive period (wherever we can get one!), we thought we would look back at our very first year of trading and look back at our journey so far.

We launched the website in October 2016, and I went fully self-employed at the start of November. Within the month that we did both of the above, I moved to Lancaster and I moved into my workshop – needless to say this was one of the busiest months of our lives! Doing all of the above set us up for what was to be a very busy year ahead…

William Firth Woodcraft First Year of TradingOver Christmas, we attended Christmas Markets, where we received some great feedback about our products and met some amazing people. Not only that, we received our first Brewery order, from none other than Lancaster Brewery.

In January 2017 we exhibited with Arteria in their first exhibition of the year, and our first exhibition ever! ‘BUILD’ ran from January until May and was a great success for us. We love the Arteria ladies, so please do check out their website, shop and gallery if you haven’t before – they are incredibly supportive and sell really beautiful items.

On April 1st, also known as April Fools’ Day, we decided to play a prank on our social media following, with our ‘Luxury French Polished Firewood’; needless to say it went down a treat and fooled a lot of people! Not sure we’ll be able to top that next year…

William Firth Woodcraft First Year of TradingJune saw us gain our first London stockist, The Collaborative Store. We still stock to The Collaborative Store now with a range of our products, including turned bowls and Kitchen Utensils and look forward to continuing to work with them in 2018.

Over the Summer, we exhibited at Leeds Craft Centre as part of their ‘Come Dine With Me’ exhibition and we are now featuring with Museums Sheffield as part of their ‘Handmade for Christmas’ Exhibition, which runs to January. We love being part of exhibitions as it’s a different way to get our work out there, so we look forward to doing more of this work in the future.

William Firth Woodcraft First Year of TradingAs we moved into Autumn, we received a request from none other than Bells of Lazonby to create a number of personalised Breadboards. These would be used as competition prizes for a social media giveaway (launched at the start of National Baking Week) with Booths Supermarket as a partner. We felt very honoured to supply such prestigious businesses, and the feedback from them has been fantastic.

As you may have already seen on the blog, in October we were accepted to attend the highly coveted Trade Show, Top Drawer. Held at Olympia London across three days, it attracts Buyers and Retailers from up and down the country, so we cannot wait to get there and show off our product range! Read more about this in full on our previous blog post, here.

Throughout our first year of trading we have gained a number of stockists, including Barton Grange, The Barn at Scorton, The Westmorland Family and more. We are so excited to see what 2018 brings where we will be expanding our product portfolio and working with more stockists.

William Firth Woodcraft First Year of TradingOver the year, we have also worked with a huge variety of Breweries creating products including Personalised Beer Caddies, Tap Handles and Beer Tasting Paddles. To build on this success, we are attending the Manchester Beer & Cider Festival Trade Fair in January, so look forward to meeting more Breweries there!

As a final ‘tick in the box’ to end our first year of trading, we found out in November that we have been accepted to the incredible Not on the High Street. A full blog post will come out on January about this, but for now, all we can say is we are launching an exclusive range of personalised products that we can’t wait to share with you!

We’d like to take this opportunity to thank every person that has worked with us in our first year of trading, bought from us, followed us, ‘liked’ us and visited our website. It’s been an incredible year for us and we are so excited for our future; we have so many grand plans and can’t wait to get going… after that break, obviously!

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year – see you in 2018!
