Found Gallery Dunbar

William Firth Woodcraft & Found Gallery, Dunbar

Found Gallery is a beautiful space located in Dunbar, outside of Edinburgh.

Found Gallery

Found Gallery opened in 2010 by husband and wife team, Amy and Simon. The gallery has become a real eclectic mix of handmade, beautiful pieces. Alongside Amy’s own artwork, a wide range of work is shown which changes regularly, and we are so pleased to say William Firth Woodcraft is soon to be one of them!

Found Gallery DunbarOur Work

We have been given complete free reign to come up with a selection of products that compliment each other, and that will sit well in the Found Gallery. We are working on a wide range of pieces that we believe will be perfectly suited to the space, and without giving away too much at this stage, there will be a mix of our most popular products as well as some exclusive, one-off pieces.

Found Gallery DunbarAmy said, “Here at Found we love the excitement of a great ‘find’.  Beautiful pieces, that are quirky, unusual and exquisitely made.  When I saw William’s gorgeous wood while meandering online one day, I knew he’d be a perfect fit for the gallery. A true contemporary craftsman, his work is 100% handmade, beautiful as well as functional and sits well with our ‘one of a kind’ ethos.  I’m excited to be showcasing his work, and look forward to selling loads of wonderful wood here at Found.”

We can’t wait to see our work in Found, and we’re even using it as an opportunity to visit in person, when we hand deliver the pieces. Our pieces will be available from the beginning of September.

Bolthole Rawtenstall

We Have a New Stockist – Introducing Bolthole Rawtenstall

Bolthole Rawtenstall has been in the Rossendale valley town for over 11 years, and was recently taken over by husband and wife team, Peter & Jayne.

Bolthole RawtenstallBolthole Rawtenstall

We were fortunate enough to meet Jayne at Top Drawer in London, back in January 2018, and we couldn’t believe it when she said how local she was to us. We talked Jayne through our products and discussed the potential for some different items and perhaps an exclusive range. We were delighted when Jayne then went on to place an order, and we hear our products are doing very well in the shop to date!
The shop is full of beautiful items, including eclectic gifts, books, candles and homewares, and now, William Firth Woodcraft products, too.

Our Work

Bolthole RawtenstallBolthole houses a currently exclusive range of Serving Boards, which are slightly larger than our ‘hero’ product that you’ll be used to seeing. We can’t wait to launch a new range of Serving Boards in Summer 2018.

Jayne said, “I chose these wonderful handmade  pieces because they really add something unique and special to our curated range of homeware products. We don’t have many so we make sure to try to source the unusual quality pieces that our customers love. It was an extra special experience a few weeks ago to pop across to see William at his workshop and see where the pieces come to life; such a rare opportunity as a retailer! I’m looking forward to introducing more of William’s pieces to the range in the future.”

We’re so happy to be working with a local, beautiful shop owned by such a lovely couple. We hope to work together long into the future.

We Have a New Stockist – Introducing Hive Homeware

We are extremely excited to tell you we have a new stockist, Hive Homeware based in Cardiff.

Hive Homeware – A Shop for People who Want to Buy Less. But Better.

Hive homeware is an online platform with monthly ‘preview’ events across Cardiff, Wales and the rest of the UK. Hive Preview events offer a rolling array of complementary services aimed at bringing in shoppers for reasons beyond the typical collection of homeware, such as in-store coffee shops, live bands and events.

Hive is not only environmentally and socially conscious, but also conscious of the moment – some would call this mindful. Hive understands that a true appreciation of the every day is not a skill that everyone has innately, but it is indeed one that can be learnt. Hive encourage their customers, through the relationships, they build with them and the items that they purchase to celebrate craft, embrace longevity, and redefine their understanding of ‘value’.

To find out where Hive will be previewing next, visit hivehomeware.com/preview.

Our Work

Hive are currently stocking a range of our Kitchen Utensils, which will also be available online soon via their website.

Founder of Hive, Shaun Hocke said, “We discovered William Firth Woodcraft at Top Drawer in London in January – As always with these sorts of trade fairs we weren’t there to buy wooden craft, but hey that’s how it goes. We came across William and Jess tucked away, and it was clear from the start they are passionate about what they do. At Hive we only work with people who we feel share of passion and drive for what they do. We love how every single one of their products are 100% handmade from start to finish and is therefore unique.”

We truly feel that our brands are similar in the way we do business and the way we work together, and we are so excited to be working together, and hope to for a long time to come!

The Churchmouse at Barbon

William Firth Woodcraft adds The Churchmouse at Barbon to Growing List of Stockists

As you probably already know if you’re an avid blog reader of ours, we attended many Christmas Markets in 2017, one of which being Kirkby Lonsdale Christmas Fair. Whilst there, we were fortunate enough to meet Jules from The Churchmouse at Barbon, and since then, we are now working together, supplying the shop with our products!

The Churchmouse at BarbonThe Churchmouse at Barbon

The Churchmouse at Barbon is a fantastic store and delicatessen, hugely popular with walkers and cyclists. Situated in the centre of the village of Barbon, just outside Kirkby Lonsdale, the fully licensed venue offers food and drink as well as selling a wide range of cheeses, meats, groceries and now, William Firth Woodcraft products!

Jules said;  “William and I met at a Christmas Market in Kirkby Lonsdale. I was amazed at the quality of the products. I immediately purchased some of William’s stock, which has been really popular in store. They are items of sheer beauty and a treat to use in the kitchen. They make cooking more of a pleasure than it is already!”

We are absolutely thrilled to add such a beautiful venue to our list of stockists, and we are even planning an evening event with Jules and the team for the Spring at the venue itself, so watch this space!

Personalised Breadboards created by William Firth WoodcraftWe are so pleased and excited to announce that we have recently worked with Bells of Lazonby to create personalised Breadboards, in advance of their brand new social media giveaway campaign launching in National Baking Week 2017.

#Useyourloaf

The campaign will see Booths customers using Bells of Lazonby’s Artisan Sourdough Bread range at home to create their own recipes and showcase these on social media, using the hash tag #useyourloaf.  Each post will be entered into a weekly draw and a winner will be announced every week for the rest of 2017, winning a personalised Breadboard.

Bells were keen to use a local business to supply the prizes and so asked us to be involved. Each personalised Breadboard has been made completely by hand out of European Oak, and etched with the Bells logo and ‘Bells of Lazonby – Artisan Bread Craft Bakers – Est. 1946’

Bells of Lazonby’s Marketing Manager, Emily Sudell, said; “Will was a pleasure to work with and was very quick to respond to the brief. He worked within our exact requirements and met our deadlines. It was great to be able to use a local producer to coincide with our local #useyourloaf competition, where we have teamed up with regional supermarket, Booths to promote our new artisan sourdough bread range. We’re sure these beautiful prizes will make the social media campaign a success and drive people to engage!”

The campaign being led by Bells of Lazonby and Booths launches Monday 16th October 2017 across social media until the end of 2017.

William Firth Woodcraft is part of FIKA Exhibition at Arteria Lancaster

We are very excited to announce that we are part of the brand new exhibition, ‘FIKA’, in Arteria, which is being held from 12th October 2017 to 6th January 2018.

According to the Collins Dictionary, the definition of ‘Fika’ (pronounced Fee-Ka) reads as ‘a concept in Swedish (and Finnish) culture with the basic meaning, “to have coffee”, often accompanied with pastries or sandwiches.’

To read into this further, it is all about taking time out of your day to relax and enjoy quality time either alone or with family and friends.

We are so excited that Arteria have decided to use this as the theme for their last exhibition of 2017, and we can’t wait to showcase our products that fit into it as well as see what the other participants produce.

Honey DipperThe usual suspects will feature in the show from us, such as our Wonky Serving Boards and Cake Knives, but we have also included our brand new Cake Stands this year which make the perfect Christmas gift. We’ve also featured our Honey Dippers, which are also a great, unusual gift for your loved ones.

All of our products are 100% handmade from our workshop in Scorton, just south of Lancaster. This year we have worked with local and national stockists and Breweries, but Arteria was the first shop and Exhibition we featured in, so we really are so pleased to be asked to go back and we’ll never say ‘no’ to them in the years to come! (Providing they ask us back again!)

We can’t wait to see all the Makers and Producers take part this year; Arteria always pick such great Craftspeople that we are honoured to sit our products next to.

If you have any questions about us featuring in the exhibition or would like to get in touch, don’t hesitate to contact us today.
